Abbotsford Airshow 2006 : Sunday August 13th, 2006. A very hot and HAZY day. Most of the aerial photos were taken from about 500 meters(1600 feet) back from the fence line as I had to stay near our vehicle. As a result I did not get the resolution I was hoping for... wait till next year. It's a tough place to take aerial photos in any case as the runway to sun alignment is not very good. Great crowd and very easy to get to and leave from. Too bad Highway #1 on a Sunday evening is such a disaster. When are they going to make it 6 or even 8 lanes?

Update: I recently viewed this gallery on a system other than my own where the monitor was not calibrated to gray scale and I've realised some of these images can look really bad. The post processing I had to do to recover from under exposure left all kinds of noise and artifacts in several of the aerial images. Next year...

Abbotsford Air Show 2003 : Friday August 8, 2003 The gray overcast and haze made it difficult to get a clean shot but basically I did not have enough lense to capture anything in the air. The alignment of the flight paths is quite poor at Abbotsford being that is N-NW to S-SE. The sun is always at the wrong spot in the sky!

Calgary Aero Space Museum : Soon to be housed in a new building, the museum today displays a collection of various aircraft associated with the former WWII Commonwealth flight training schools hosted in Alberta or flown by former residents of the area. While the outside exhibits are a bit less than pristine, it is still eerie to stand in the shadows of these aircraft that our grandfathers rode into battle. Several of the internal exhibits are simply marvels of restoration, particularly the Sopwith Triplane and the gun turrets recovered from the display Lancaster and a B-17. More information can be found here...http://www.asmac.ab.ca/
